Look at Alpha, Ameritron, Emtron, Acom, and OM power. Their panels are plain and their cabinets are from flat stock bent on a metal break.

Yes, the big 3 do use molded panels and parts. They not only look nicer, plastic in quantities is cheap.

Anyone with the desire, time and metal working skill could do as well with simple tools.
