teh suggestion).

Equipment Description:
RIG: FT-990 & 486DX2-66 MHz running CT. ANTs: My CC&R's prohibit external
antennas, so I have an indoor 20m, 15m, and 10m fan dipole, stuck to the
attic rafters in my townhouse with push pins (green for 20m, blue for 15m,
yellow for 10m) and a nearly invisible 40m delta loop in the eucalyptus
over the garden wall. I used the delta loop on 80m, letting the FT-990's
built in tuner do the matching.
Before I do the Sweepstakes this year, I intend to do something better than
the delta loop, esp. on 80m. Any suggestions? I has to be invisible to
neighbors and homeowner's association officers. I have access to the boulevard
along the expressway just over the garden wall, in which there are several
50 foot tall eucalyptus trees maintained by the city.

Hmmm...just been glancing through the rules in the September 94 CQ and, while
not really wanting to start a flood of postings about the 10-minute rule again,
I was interested to read the definition relating to this much discussed
subject.
Quote: 3. Multi-op, single-transmitter.
Only one transmitter and one band permitted during any 10-minute period.
Exception, one - and only one - other band may be used during any 10-minute
period if - and only if - the station worked is a new multiplier.

Ok, so I'm running on 20 for a couple of hours and decide to go and run on 15.
I change bands and begin my run.
But...for a 10 minute period around the band change I have been running on 20
(say for 5 minutes) and running on 15 (for another 5 minutes).
So I have been on two bands but NOT just to work a new multiplier.
Question - how can you change bands to run and keep to rule 3?
Not being finicky (well, maybe I am) but I don't see how I can change run bands
and keep within the rule. OK, so I now I really CAN, 'cos everyone does, but it
seems the rules still aren't fully clear.

yes, you are missing something bill. packet spotting and eventually the
cluster was pioneered by our club, the YCCC to help the club score. yes,
you are helping your competition by spotting something on the cluster, but
more importantly you are helping your club score. now if you live in an
area without a contest club, or you don't belong to one, then you may not
see the purpose of spotting during a contest. but in this area, and others
with major contest clubs, the cluster is a way for the whole club to benefit
from the ears of everyone.
