In Thursday we repair and put on the tower (30m) our 2el. quad, which survive
heavy wind and snow storm after WPX SSB on Mt. Menina top (1500m a.s.l.).
The weather was good, power generator and all other devices worked OK.
CONDX was good, but I missed more JA's.
MNI TNX to S53BB, S53MM and S53RM for helping with antenna and power
generator work.

Notes:
- Got off to my usual fast start (110,123,96 hours) but not enough
signal on the lowbands to keep it going.
- I think the 2X1 adds a good number of stateside mults and LOTS of
zero pointers. These contacts may be worthless but they are better than
working nothing. It keeps up the attention level.
- I learned in the CQWW that it is difficult for me to compete if there
is no 15 meters. I was hoping that the WPX would be different but I
just couldn't work enough 6 pointers to keep up with Randy and Tyler.
- Not a big fan of off time in the contests. Being able to sleep does
help the mental and physical health but I hate walking away from the
radios when there is stuff to work. Also, being able to have a couple
short visits with the wife and kids, as opposed to none, in the course
of the weekend does not significantly raise their tolerance level
toward contesting.
- Conditions were surprisingly good for this time in the cycle. I said
the same thing after the ARRL CW.
- Overall, it was fun and congratulations to K5ZD and KF3P for their
fine efforts.

...after last weekends banging of my head against the wall as 20 meter
glutton at the WC4E multi-multi I am anxious to see continental breakdown
info from others with large 20 meter numbers....so far I have seen only
KG1D's-it says exactly what I felt/experienced, I suspect that WW2Y's bkdwn
is about the same...to repeat-Florida, while being East Coast US, is NOT the
Northeast when it comes to Europe

since we couldn't work as much EU we had more:
North American QSOs
WC4E KG1D
1401 1207 (Delta=+194)
less EU, more US:
When combined, the two totals yield 717 QSOs to KG1D.
....do this point jibe?
The overall total QSOs by KG1D crew was 3702...total Qs by WC4E crew was
2947, difference in totals is 755 QSOs...yup that is it alright
Europe does the trick, he who runs EU gets the apple every time, no - we are
not in the Black Hole, but both mornings I listened to and to some extent
longed for that NE advantage...but - I DO NOT miss the Snow and Ice, and I
enjoy being able to do antenna work year 'round...so:
WANTED:
Southern lattitude experiences with 20 meter antennas, heights, etc...what
works/hasn't worked for you into EU in the morning?? The current 4L at 95
foot does very well in the afternoon but feels like a broken butternut at
dawn.

Me too.
I purchased this "IC-PS35"s for my TS440s and one has been
used for TS690S now. I love it.
The PS35 DC-out connector fits directly to 440/690.
The modification is just to short the AC source line. ICOM
Xcver can turn on/off the AC input line of PS35 but Kenwood
has no such capability.
