I have used this Gateway keyboard, and rely on it every day. In
addition to the programmable features, I can attest that it also has
a great feel to it, and I drag it in to the shack for use during
contests for this reason alone. It is normally used for computer
programming. The Maxi-Switch is highly recommended.

How 'bout them low bands? Our highest totals ever on 160, 80, and 40. Ran
out of ops the second night or things would have been even better. RFI got
into two computers (solved by removing a ferrite choke!) and trashed a few
QSOs. That wasn't so bad, what was bad is that the band files wouldn't
merge properly after the contest. Had to convert .bin to .res, scan files
for gibberish, remove it then convert back to .bin. Took a long time and
still not sure all is OK, so this is a preliminary score:

As usual, good Q's, low mult totals. Ops were: NL7G, KL7Y, KL7PJ, N7DF,
NL7GP, WL7E, K0MVL, KL7AF, NL7VJ & KL7U. Operation from the KL7Y QTH, QSLs
to KL7GNP or KL7 buro.
160: Nearly doubled our best previous QSO total. Worked over a dozen EU on
this band, first time we ever worked any except FJL. Nice run of USA, JAs
down, Pacific was horrible.
80: Our best prior country count on this band was 34, so what a big
improvement. Huge signals out of zone 17 for a while. Great USA runs and
worked a bunch of Europe. Band was open way past sunrise on Sunday.
40: Aim north, young man. Band was open 48 hours straight, couldn't always
run and a lot of the time there wasn't much on but dupes, but 40 never
really quit. JAs seemed down, but Eu rolled in.
20: Closed for a few hours, otherwise was in good shape. Seemed to work a
lot of JAs on this band, which was good as USA closed early and EU opened
late. NL7GP had a 205 hour at the start.
15: Better than expected at the bottom of the cycle. Started with a nice
JA run, almost reminiscent of high sunspot years, but the opening died
sooner. Snagged only a few EU, but the band wasn't even supposed to open
that way, we'll take it.
10: It opened briefly, we made a few QSOs and we were happy for that.
Other comments: No breakdowns on the RF side, if we can just get those
computers to run steady...No problems with the old 286's, better
shielded??...Worked a very loud XZ1A first call on 80, but was that the real
article?...Never had made DXCC on 40 in the contest until 3 years ago when I
put a brand new FT-990 there - it's been on 40 for 3 years in a row and
we've hit DXCC 3 years runnning - draw your own conclusion...JW5NM went at
least 20 minutes on 20M without sending his call generating dididumdumdidi's
from many who didn't have packet...JA turnout seemed poor except on 20, hope
they will rebound as the new sunspots build...Yes, we had aurora, I saw it
in the north, kind of weak and puny, but except for a few hours Saturday
evening the absorption was very low...Halibut, salmon and KL7AF's casserole
were as tasty as the conditions.

In the US, the requirement that you send the other station's call when in
QSO was dropped about 15 years ago (if I remember correctly). Of course,
this is not something very useful for the CQing station. :-)

Conditions were superb, the new 4-square with raised radials works better
than anything else thus far at K1KI. Couldn't work EU in daylight like the
