How are the COM ports connected together? Is it a complete loop?

HOW TO SUBMIT SCORES FOR POSTING ON INTERNET
As in the past I will be compiling the scores for CQWW SSB and CW. Here
is the format I plan to use and also a few tips that will make it easier
for you and me. Keep in mind you are doing ONE score and I am doing a
hundred or more.
This is the format I plan on using:
CALL HRS SCORE QSO'S PTS Z DX
PLEASE REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR COMPLETE CLASS IN THE SCORES. Do not just
send single op all band. Make sure you say you were HP or LP and
Assisted or not. Do not assume I know anything about what you have
worked for the last 10 years. Anyone sending in just SO will be put in
Single Op Assisted.
Also if you would please put in the subject line your call and the
contest name. Example: WA4ZXA Scores CQWW SSB. The reason for this is
that I do several tests at one time and it makes it easier to put you in
the right one without reading it all first. Also if I have to correct
your scores it makes it easier to find your original post.
If you will just send it in the fromat it will work so much easier for
me. You can just send your CT or NA summary sheet also.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANY ATTACHED FILES TO YOUR EMAIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I say this every contest and I still get them. I have to totally get out
of my program to read attached files. I feel if you do not have the time
to type one simple line of info then I do not have time to post your
scores. So if you send an attached file it will not be posted.
I do realize there are no off times in this test so I am sure you wonder
why the hours. Several people have requested this so that they can
compare how long a person did work the test.
Make sure all calculations are complete. Add up all scores. I do not
like to add up people's scores because if I make a mistake then I get
blamed. Also remember again you are working with ONE score and me with a
bunch.
I will put you in any class you submit. I do not care if it is a class
or not. If you see someone in a class that you feel is wrong, email them
not me. I only put down what is sent me. I do know the classes myself
but I am not here to correct people only to post scores.
Another thing has came about this year. Several and I do mean several
people are requesting I send them copies of the scores. I am sorry but I
do not have time to do that much mailing. Feel free to grab them off
here and use them anyway you wish. KA9FOX has been doing it for years
with no problem so I see no reason you cannot also. If they are used in
a mag I only request that I receive credit for it.
Scores will posted everyday for the first week and breakdowns every two
days. As scores slow down coming in I will slow down posting them. That
is the best way I know to save bandwidth on the reflector.
If I make a mistake, which I am sure I will just email me and I will
correct it. Please do not type in ALL CAPS at me like I am a dummy or
something as someone did last year. Remember to include your call and
class in your correction response.
Also I have nothing to do with the staff of CQWW Contest Committee or
log scoring. DO NOT SEND ME ANY LOGS!!
I am sure I have left somethings out and will discover them once I start
posting. Please read the very bottom of the scores for any changes I
need to make in how the scores are done.

For my new (to me) 1000D, I have been told I should
add a multiband vertical antenna to complement my
tribander and wires for the nine HF bands. This
vertical would be a separate rcv'g antenna plugged into
the BPF-1 unit of this particular radio; or maybe
into just the separate rcv antenna phone plug(!)
input connector.
I had some experience some years ago using the R7
vertical; it was not very impresseive as a rcv'g
antenna; clearly too much loss. So, it would not
be a good choice for the new application; anyway it
doesn't cover 80 and 160.
Now, would a Gap Voyager DX be a good choice for
a separate rcv antenna for the 1000D. It is 41 feet high (long),
the most length of any of the available commercials, I
think. At 20 meters (note the Voyager is NOT built to
operate on 20) the Voyager radiator is about 220 degrees
long, or very high radiation resistance, and probably
tough to get a match to the 1000D BPF antenna input,
but it might still be a good separate rcv antenna for the
several HF bands for which it is not designed to match
into 50 ohms; or would it? The 41 foot length seems
attractive to me for nine band receiving use.
Maybe, give up on 160, and just get the Gap Titan DX
which is designed to yield 50 ohm matches to a rig
in all 8 HF bands, but not at 160. But it is only 25
feet long, so probably has pretty low radiation resistance,
and tho matching to 50 ohms, may, as was the R7, be
so low in efficiency that it is not worth the $289
just for a recv'g application for the 1000D
Any suggestions, or am I swatting at flies for this
BPF rcv'g application? Presumambly, the separate
rcv antenna is to yield diversity.
BTW, what do you think about any of this, as evidently
when using the BPF option of the D, one gives up the ability
to operate Split! Maybe best to forget the BPF-1, and use the
separate rcv input terminal of the basic D radio, then the
split mode is available. Note that this D basic separate
rcv antenna input is a phono type plug, so 50 ohm input
impedance is eveidently tossed even by the radio designers!
So is antenna diversity reception a desirable operating mode, and
I guess with some switches to move things around, the vertical
could be used alternately either way, but an internal switch within
the D cabinet must be changed to effect such changes of rig
use. Not handy when in a hurry during a "test".
Note: no way at this QTH are Beverage antennas possible. And
I presume this is the use for which the separate rcv antenna plug
on the D was provided
What have you guys done with these choices?

I've seen several comments about how CT calculates off times, mostly from
people puzzled about why they operated more hours in the recent ARRL DX
Contest than CT reported.
I think that means most people haven't discovered the OFFTHRESH command
within CT. In the ARRL and CQWW DX contests the OFFTHRESH parameter is set
to 10 (minutes), and in Sweepstakes to 30. That means that if a 10 minute
period goes by, CT counts it as offtime. Last weekend we showed .3 hours of
offtime when we had at least two stations QRV all the time. That means we
must have had two 10 minute periods with no QSOs (20 min = .3 hour).
So, if you want a more accurate estimate of your actual operating time, set
OFFTHRESH to 30 - if you let more than 30 minutes go by without a QSO you
should have been asleep!
Type OFFTHRESH in the field used for callsigns and you'll be prompted to put
in a new number.
