Stopped by the PO box this morning on the way to the airport for another
business trip (Santa Rosa, CA) and found the latest CQ. I am writing
this at 30,000 feet somewhere over Colorado, or is it Utah, or by the
time I finish, California. :-)

Front cover photo of K3RR in his great looking "warm" shack.  Surprise;
there is even a decent writeup on the Contents page, althought in fine
print.

An interesting editorial this month about the missing 500,000 US hams
that are not represented by any organization or have not responded to any
surveys.

Contest related items: How To Build An Effective All-Band Counterpoise; A
Closer Look at the Extended Double Zepp Antenna; Results - 1997 CQ/RJ WW
RTTY DX Contest (somehow I have missed something, what does "RJ" mean?);
Designing and Building A Three-Element 80 Meter Yagi; 1997 CQWW DX CW
Contest High-Claimed Scores; Contest Calendar column - Has This Contest
Ended Yet? (some thoughts on post contest log activities; still no
contest survey results); and Rules - 1998 CQ/RJ WW RTTY DX Contest (still
no explanation of "RJ").

Other interesting items: 9M0C - The CDXC Spratly Islands DXpedition;
Math's Notes column - Computer Video vs. Conventional NTSC (TV) Video;
World of Ideas column - QRP News, Views, and Notes, plus First Views of
the SGC-2020 HF rig; DX column - DXCC 2000 Explained (it seems that K5FUV
was at Visalia talking about the DXCC program; wonder if they were aware
of the 10 Meter Contest results problem then?); Propagation column -
Scientific Disagreement Over Start and Progress of Cycle 23; and
more.....

73 and good reading,
