Hi all,
Interesting thread.
As a QRP type since '78 (go 'head and snicker..),
I never send /QRP when doing hunt & pounce,
which is about 99.9% of the time.
EXCEPTION:
If the other stn sends /QRP then I'll send it and
make it a 2X QRP contact.
Like tom said "../QRP is not valid designator "
and IMHO a time waster. (no offense intended)
When I'm calling CQ (and beating off the wolves)
and things get slow, every once in a great while I'll
throw out a "/QRP" - just for the heck of it, to see if
I can hook that occasional stn feeling sorry for my
P-weak signal...
But, I doubt if I use it more than a dozen times
during a contest...
The way I see it, QRP doesn't mean send sloooow
cw. I'm constantly tweaking the speed knob on the
keyer to match the other station.
I've found that my call is most readable between
28 and 32 WPM. [exchange is faster]
By readable, I mean -no/minimum repeats-
and not messing up the other guy's "flow".
In the Army I topped out at 45WPM, but thats alot
of brain cells ago. Ifya know what I mean.
Just my $.02
