That statement is so utterly absurd I hardly know where to begin.

Competition is best when competitors are as nearly equal as possible.
Would you enjoy a World Series which pits the New York Yankees against
your local high school? Who would care? Nobody, not even the
players.

How about a boxing match where one fighter has brass knuckles and the
other doesn't? Sound interesting? Forget it. Like nearly all
sports, boxing has rules that BOTH boxers must adhere to. No one is
allowed to gain an advantage by anything other than his own physical
skill and conditioning. It's him, not his equipment, that makes a
good match.

The best competition in amateur radio - the ABSOLUTE BEST - is the
WRTC. Take a guess why. The playing field is as level as humanly
possible. Identical stations, identical location, identical operator
conditions, etc, etc. Whoever emerges from that is a true winner and
deserving of everyone's respect.

I would like to see contesting revamped to have just two basic
classes: Limited, much like WRTC, and Unlimited, where anything goes
(legal, of course). Let everyone choose their playing field, knowing
they are competing against people who approach the hobby the same way
they do.

Or would you rather see the guy with the brass knuckles hollering to
the other "life isn't fair, get used to it!"
