I purchased a pair of never assembled DBS-2 band decoders from an estate
sale. I am having difficulty getting them to work with my Icom 736 and 746
Pro.
The original owner purchased them in Aug '05 for use with a Kenwood and a
Yaesu. Unfortunately the producer of the product went SK in Mar '05 and it
is no longer supported. Also, apparently the schematic is not available.
The specs indicate that the decoder can process either a 1200 or 9600 baud
CI-V data stream and extract the band data. This approach is suppose to get
around a problem with interpreting the Icom band voltages for the WARC
bands.
With a scope I can see a 5v data stream on the RX pin of the PIC 16F870.
However, with the decoder and the Icom set for either 1200 or 9600 the PIC
does not change states when the Icom frequency is changed to initate the
data stream. However, I am able to get the DBS-2 to track BCD from TR Log.
Has anyone else had this experience? If yes - has anyone found the solution
to the problem?
tnx
