Here are four foundational ambiguities:

Station, Operator, Assistance, Spotting

At one time or another, each term has been the focus of heated discussion and
outright mis-adjudication. Once these four terms can be defined without
ambiguity, (almost) everything else falls into place.

One way to approch the issue is to ask sponsors to start here:
http://www.m-w.com to gather a "root level" understanding of these words as
they are used in everyday English. The next step would be to examine
professional sports and understand how these terms are applied and adjudicated
there. Lastly, expand on each as they apply to our radio sport.

Regards,
Ev, W2EV

PS: Yes, this may require the development of an entirely new set of radio
sports as there is much momentum to overcome in changing the existing set.
