I think the key phrase here is "You tune around ..."

You bet. 
There will always be someone who wants to "help", and the single op 
can't control that.  They can however, control how they react.
If you decide to go work the new mult right after the help, then you 
have decided to accept assistance.

A big part of getting a sweep in SS is the satisfaction of "earning" it 
on your own.
