My first encounter with Phil was on the air in the late 50's or very early
60's in the old ARRL CD Parties. I was in MI as K8HLR and Phil was in WI as
K9ELT. He was a terrific op and just got better thru the years. Funny how
things go, I never met him in person until last year in Visalia where we
had a
nice 20 minute or so chat, about contesting of course. I will always
remember
that time.
RIP Phil...you touched all us contesters!
