Thank you for the many e-mails I've already gotten in a short time in
support of my message. Clearly I'm not the only one who feels this
way.

A proposition: All us "little guys" (hihi -- that's "old school" for
a laugh, in ham radio) have to stick together. That's about the 99%
of us who aren't in the "top contenders clique."

And my sincere apologies to N2IC, who fired off an e-mail to me taking
offense at the suggestion that two top contenders (guys who often win,
like #1) are widely believed (among the contest sponsor organizations,
not just "me and my buddies") to cheat. I made it clear to Steve, I
hope, that I absolutely did not mean him -- or K5TR or N6TR either. I
think he misunderstood what I said and don't know why he would think I
was referring to him, I really don't. For the record, I firmly
believe N2IC, K5TR and N6TR -- and others -- to be diligent, skilled,
operators and competitors, who have no doubt put years of sweat and
effort into building their skills and their stations, and deserve
whatever success they get.
