First, congratulations on your data base for the 3830 system. It is most
usable and interesting. The search for a call-sign feature is excellent.
I suppose I am naive but it never occurred to me that one would decide on
an entry category based on other scores. For the most part, that is decided
during the contest based on use or non-use of packet and power levels. I
guess a true S/O could enter any of the various assisted or multi-op
categories, of course, but not the other way around. It's hard for a S/O to
compete at the highest levels going that way, so it's not immediately
obvious to me why one would choose to do that.
My main fear is potential "mining" the 3830 data to gain some "fills" from
the info posted. For example, following SS to confirm Precedent or Section.
This info should not be available in any form from a poster on 3830.
One thing I know for sure, if the postings are delayed until the log
submission date, the activity will become of very low interest as the
"raison d'etre" for 3830 is the short term feedback on the scores and the
comments.
