I am not offended by the ?. To me it means someone caught the very end of
my CQ or QRZ, or hears a clear spot on his dial.

I simply press F4 or F1, depending on the situation. If he needs a contact,
he is there with my correct call and off we go. If I am a dupe, he is gone
and someone else can get into my log.

If he is looking for a clear freq (doesn't use QRL as ? is shorter) then he
knows the freq is busy and he moves on ,or gives me a call if I am not in
his log.

In any scenario, we both come out winners. Mis dos centavos.
