For me the most memorable contesting article was the
one written by KH6IJ somewhere around 1960.  The thing
I most remember was his suggestion to learn to send
while holding your pencil so you don't have to keep
picking it up and putting it down throughout the
contest.  (I still follow that advice when contesting
in the car!)  

W9IOP also wrote a great article on how to win SS
around the same time period.
