Dupes in any contest occur for many reasons.  On 40 SSB using split if you 
made at least 20 QSOs and had a decent signal you got at least one "worked 
before".  This is because so many listen the same open (more or less) on 
frequencies being used by others. From my standpoint you must send your call 
as well as the DX so this can be minimized.  Many think this slows down the 
process so they only give the report.  Bad idea as mults can be lost and 
point subtracted.

On any mode failure to ID regularily causes dupes and finally busted spots 
on DX clusters or Dx summit.  Log checkers can detect Single op stations 
using spotting by a high number of busts
that correspond to the spotting network.
