Thanks to N2ZN for the tip on the Hamvention slide show about N6ZZ, Phil Goetz.
Was the 2007 Hamvention the first time it had been presented? N6ZZ died on
February 27, 2007.

In the fall of 2004 I talked to Phil about writing a book about his adventures
and offered to help. He was either not interested or too busy. So I never had
the chance to interview him at length.

As far as I know (to answer someone's question) he operated CQ WW from all 40
zones, some CW weekends and some SSB. As the slide show mentions, it's easier
to find an unused station for CW and to join a team for SSB multi-op, often
with local operators.

One of the many, many questions I would have asked him was "Did you consider
operating other major contests from needed zones to pick up the pace?"

The slide show really, really needs some background, filling out, commentary,
and, yes, closure. If anyone who was close to Phil would like to take that on,
I'd be glad to help (reply off line).
