In one of the jobs that I do, there is a lot of talk about WHAT
we do, and that it is very different from HOW we accomplish it.

WHAT vs. HOW

This seems relevant to the problems we are facing with ambiguity
in the rules.

Perhaps event organizers can use this way of differentiating
specific details that only add to confusion or misinterpretation from
PRINCIPLES about HOW one operates that underlie the intention of
a given rule.

This assumes those in charge of making the rules are among the
most knowledgeable folks to formulate an intention (rule) that isn't
like swiss cheese, with too many holes in it. It takes a great deal of
humility to concede one needs outside consultation, but it IS a
characteristic of many very intelligent persons.

Maybe instead of letting fear of our inevitable technological evolution
drive organizers to try to keep things "as they were", maybe it is
possible to at least keep up with the present and consider things
"as they have become." Innovation should never be limited to just the
technology, it should also be included in "Operating Event Design©"

That's MY innovation, that last phrase.
So I'm putting my copyright on it. Feel free to use OED for short.

This is what a lot of the debate has been about; flaws and loopholes
in the designs offered by event organizers. And for those who are at
the cutting edge of technology, it might be well to lighten up a bit, and
offer your best description or demonstration of what is possible with
that technology to the Designers in a way that satisfies THEIR needs.

Those who are walking in such fresh technological turf are both blessed
and cursed, as they see or experience new things long before the masses.
Keep in mind that it may take a LONG time for the masses to adjust to a
blinding new reality. And the Designers give weight to THEIR needs first.
