Tom,

Buy plenty of wire, you will be doing this about every 3 years. Sooner if you
get icing. That’s why I no longer have a quad.

Tom,

The ham outlets are usually very good prices on wire. Remember, your not
buying THHN but last I looked, THHN was about $120.00/, or 12¢ a foot, but that
wire is very soft.

I'd take a look at the various strengths and resistance to breakage by flexing.

Sometimes smaller gauge wire that is braided steel coated with copper can work
better.

In my experience stranded wire gives best performance in winds, hard drawn
copper being what I have learned is cheapest in the long run, I have some
braided copper clad steel with 130 strands that I am going to see if it lasts
longer.

As I get older the cost of work is much more than the copper costs! Oh, my
aching back!!!!
