I respectfully have a different standard, Paul.

In the context of radio sport, "technology" is not assistance.

"Outside sourced information" is assistance.

If I develop information INSIDE MY STATION DURING THE CONTEST PERIOD
(regardless of technology) then that is not assistance.

If I use INFORMATION developed by someone else outside my station, inside or
outside the contest period (SCP, cty.dat, RBN, cluster), then, like Stu, I
consider that it places MY ENTRY in the assisted or multi-op category.

This is my ethos, and I don't mean to imply that it is superior to any others
which are consistent with the sponsors official rules.  If not prohibited by
the sponsor, it is not a cheat.

No - all relevant technology assists. In essence, what distinguishes
"assisted" from "unassisted" is that you connect to external networks,
typically the cluster or RBN, to improve your score - benefiting from
real-time spotting information from other operators or from remote
