Paul, there is no doubt a difference in time with the efficiency often pointing
towards remote operating.
Expense can be argued with the arrival of pay to rent minutes services now out
there for remote operating. Some trips cost more than others and some remote
rentals cost more than others. Some remote operating is free just as some guest
operating could be a free walk to another ham’s station.
My post was in response to the notion that remote ops may be skewing the home
territory’s qualification points and how that notion should take into
consideration what guest ops already do.

In general, guest ops have made a commitment in terms of time and money
to operate from their chosen location. In general, remote ops have made
no such commitment, and are dependent on the internet for each and every
one of their contacts.

Radio amateurs do it (communicate with one another) with RF. Everyone
else needs the internet.  Or have the rules changed?
