Part of the deal you make with the devil when you use free email services is
some level of tracking.
Google Gmail is certainly the most active, especially if you use the Chrome
browser a lot (Google) and use an Android phone (Google), Waze, YouTube, etc
and of course the Google search engine.
When you sign in to one email app (like Gmail) you are by default signed into
all Google apps. If you stay logged in to gmail all the time, you are tracked
all the time. If you use an Android phone, the only way not to have Gmail
running is to delete your account from the phone and only check gmail through a
browser.
After much pressure, Google has put in some features to make it easier to
minimize the amount of info that is tracked and provided to third parties. This
