Not necessarily true.  He already stated that his concern is the limited power handling capability of the portable antenna he is planning to use.

The same could be said if he was using a small antenna tuner (coils can heat up), or if he was concerned about the drain on a battery. He's going to be portable so could be concerned about size and weight.
