Per suggestions by N2MG, K1EP and others (many thanks!) I have tried many
things to solve this problem. Here are the details:

Swapped keyboards - no difference.
Remapped Insert Key - same problem on the "new" key.
Remapped an "ok" key to the Insert key - Insert key WORKED FINE - so the
Insert key is NOT the problem
Re-recorded the F1 - F5 keys, but problem still exists.

I even unzipped CT9.51.001 again and reinstalled it. but there was no change
in the problem.

Here again is the problem:

F2 key by itself - WORKS FINE
F5 key by itself - WORKS FINE
Insert key inserts 3Alpha 3Alpha 3 between the recorded F2
key and the F5 key

Tried the "other" Insert key on the keyboard - the problem still exists.

So apparently, for some unknown reason, combining the F2 + F5 keys causes
the 3Alpha 3Alpha 3 to be inserted between the F2 and F5 recordings.

Now for some details..... Here is what happened when the following was in
the callsign field when I pressed the INSERT key with F2 recorded as
59Connecticut and F5 for the callsign:

Callsign Field Heard
G Golf 59 CT
G4 Golf 4 59 CT
G4T Golf 4 Tango Xray 3Alpha 3Alpha 3 59 CT
G4TY Golf 4 Tango Yankee 3Alpha 3Alpha 3 59 CT
G4TTY G4TTY (phonetics omitted) 3Alpha 3Alpha 3 59CT
G4TTTY G4TTTY 59CT
G4TTTTY G4TTTTY Alpha 3Alpha 3 59 CT
G4TTTTTY G4TTTTTY Alpha 3Alpha 3 59CT
G4TTTTTTY G4TTTTTTY 3Alpha 3 59CT
G4TTTTTTTY G4TTTTTTTY 59CT
G4TTTTTTTTY G4TTTTTTTTY Alpha3 59CT

Notice how what the DVP says keeps changing depending on the length of the
callsign!

With different letters, the result is essentially the same.

Any ideas? This is a real annoying problem with what I suspect is a fairly
simple solution.

Tnx & 73
