I don't think there is a "standard" per-se.  The serial number field was
recently enlarged from 4 to 5 digits (characters), that accounts for the
change you saw.  CT takes the space between the fields as delimiters, so it
doesn't care whether the field is 5 charaters with one blank space on
either side, or 1 character with 3 blanks on one side and 2 on the other.

This makes NO difference to CT, and only seems to affect certain logging
programs which import from the .RES file using fixed field positions.
