Setup: Two 486/66 machines running 9.66.013, networked via serial ports,
running DOS 6.22, plenty of memory, etc:

Both machines running logs set up for CW Sweepstakes, one is STN1 the other
STN2. Enter data into logging fields on both computers, as you might do if
you had two machines networked in multi-single or two computer single-op,
while working one station and entering data for other station to work next
on another band. While you are doing that, the serial number for both QSOs
is the same (let's say 5, for this example). Say you are actually making
the QSO on STN2 computer; you finish that QSO and log it by hitting
"ENTER". The serial number on both the STN2 computer (on the blank line)
and on the STN1 computer (on the line where you have the pending QSO)
increment to 6. This seems like a good thing up to now...

Work the station on STN1 machine, and log the QSO with "ENTER". STN2
computer CRASHES, giving "DOS/4GW Professional Error (2001); exception 0Eh
(page fault) at 180:004DE96F", plus several lines of data. This happens
every time in this scenario. STN1 computer remains active and its QSO was
logged.

Bring up STN2 computer again, the serial number shown available for the next
QSO will be the proper one, in this case 7, but the log on STN2 goes
3,4,5,7. STN1 has 3,4,5,6,7.

This is repeatable. I am used to odd things with serial numbers in
two-computer situations like this, but never crash after crash. I will try
an earlier version tomorrow and see what happens.

Ideas? (besides only running one computer)

73, Jim N6IG
