Tnx for all the tips. Yes, the changed file did have the .mlt
extension and at the same time displayed a Notepad icon in windows explorer.
that was the puzzling part I will dig out an old dos editing program and
start again....it should solve the problem. Hank, K8DD, had the good
suggestion of running the dos EDIT program from a msdos prompt.
I had a great cw ss. NA ran great. I was keying through LPT1 and had
the TNC on com1. The version of NA used was 6.0 I am always amazed at
running a contest like ss without pen and paper. Tnx again, Bill
