"Lights of America" were the only CFLs that made audible noise and went out
prematurely for me. The nVision at Home Depot seem to be real nice. GE's
were fine also. Forget the other I use that have been OK. Dan KI6X

They used to make standard fluorescent lamp fixtures (shop lights) with a 6"
(!!) cord and an electronic ballast. Noisy beasts. I added a filter and
that took care of the noise, but one had to use an extension cord for most
hookups. I think they make "cheap" lights and cut costs wherever they
can....just my HO.
