"As I understand", payback is a percentage of the unused power. Mind you, I've not seen a contract. Don't know if I'd qualify, don't know if I'd want to, and the only S facing roof is on my shop. (same sq ft area as the house), BUT the shop is on a different, (metered) electrical feed.  Guess I could move all the heavy electrical users out there or settle for a payback on that feed..  However, I sure don't want a smart meter.
I'm far more concerned about RFI in a rural subdivision.

Ask them if they offer a one for one buy back on the power your panels generate but you don't use.

Case in point Solar City as a big player in Nevada till the state killed the one for one plan.

This resulted in Solar City (Elon Musk & Co.) leaving the state lock, stock and barrel.

This was public info out here in the not so golden state a few months back.

They are marketing something similar in this area - as I understand it, you commit to a 20-year lease, paying them every month, and what you get is reduced electric bills that may (or may not)offset the cost of the lease.

I'd like more information about that too. I think I saw a pop-up ad about it but didn't read it, assuming that there must be a catch somewhere.

MI has a program where (if you qualify) they will install solar free. It's a leased system. I'm not sure of how the payback works.  They get a % of the power generated.

I'd guess this means that there will be wide spread solar installations, with the possibility of widespread RFI.

Does anyone have any information on these systems and what we can expect?
