Regarding the audio high-freq hiss and low frequency rumble in
stereo headphones the only way I have found to kill it off is to
use my SuperSCAF. While not the total answer, it does make the
experience a bit more pleasant. The downside is that there's the
possibility of missing stations who may be calling off frequency.
The SCAF skirts are soooo steep and deep that, with the SCAF
passband set too narrow one could miss stations a couple of
hundred Hertz away (not uncommon).
