Yep,
Ten-Tec really does have great customer service.
Around four years ago they still had parts for my Triton IV
and recently they helped me with WARC mods to my OMNI-D.

A great company.

I also had poor experiences with ICOM and with Yaesu.

When my Icom IC-202S was about 12 years old (I had bought it new just 9
years before but apparently it was old stock), Icom stated that parts
were no
longer available. Their policy was to only support rigs for 10 years
from the
ending of production.

When I purchased a new Yaesu FT747GX around 4 years ago, the BCD main
tuning switch
was defective. Yaesu refused to supply parts under warranty. They
insisted that
I'd have to return the rig for warranty service with a delay of 8 to 12
weeks.
I bit the bullet and paid for the part - the warranty was useless. I
couldn't
wait that long since my job was taking me out of the country and I
wanted to
bring the rig.

I called them recently about another problem with this rig.
Their response was again to send it in for repair - no advise could or
would
be offered. Their wait is still 8 to 12 weeks as of last month. The
reason
given was that they've "lost a few technicians".

The Japanese companies seem to mainly put their money into marketing and
sales.
