In the Corsair II, one sets the ALC to control the desired output power.
Full CW for 100 watts, full CCW for a few watts, then sets the drive
control until there's occasional indication on the ALC led. Setting the
drive up too high leads to distortion.

The ALC control sets the threshold for ALC that tends to limit drive.
The drive control manual sets the drive level.
