The D-104 likes a high Z load of about 4.7 megohms, (to achieve proper 
response) and you don't get this with newer TenTecs and solid state 
rigs.  This has been addressed before, but I can't tell you where to look 
at the moment.   One obvious way would be to use an emitter-follower 
circuit to go from hi to lo Z.

Try the "hints and kinks" publications from ARRL......
