I'm recalling a vague recollection that some of the analog tentecs lost
a couple capacitor in the counter to give this symptom. There could also
be a solder connection problem in the counter input circuit that would
be temperature sensitive. Application of alternating heat and cold
should identify component or connection fairly rapidly.
