I ordered the mod a couple of days ago when I first heard of it (I hadn't
been to the INRAD web site for a while). It should be here today and I'll
eMail my impressions of it sometime next week.

I don't believe this is the story for this mod. I exchanged notes with
George at INRAD this afternoon related to this question - it was also my
concern. However, I believe what this mod is probably doing (and George
wouldn't be specific) is to improve the coupling between stages such that
the full 2400 Hz bandwidth will be getting through, not just 1600 Hz of
it as he attributes to the current design. The mod does not affect the
filtering effectiveness, but allows you to hear what should be getting
through (as George describes it). I plan to put the mod on my VI+ to see
what improvement is heard. I have the 1.8 kHz Network Science filter
also, and am hoping the mod improves audio through both filters. Since I
had to do a similar mod on my previous rig (IC-765) while fixing the AGC
(and a few other things), I'm interested to see what this one
accomplishes.
