Hi folks -
Can an Argo user answer two really dumb questions for me please?
1 - Where is the internal speaker located?
2 - How can I guestimate what the power usage would be on 10 watts out put?
The specs show power usage for 20 watts. Is it a proportional thing - ie if
its 10 watts out the power usage would be halved?
Thanks for your help. 73/Tim NZ7C
Ok Tim, I just checked my Argonaut V at three different power levels, they
are as follows---
5 watts out CW-- power usage is 4 amp.
10 watts out CW--power usage is 4.5 amp.
20 watts out CW-- power usage is 6 amp.
The speaker is bottom firing. It sounds good but I have the 307B speaker so
I do not use the internal speaker.
My model 516TCXO is number 62 and I have used it since 21 Oct 2002 with out
any small or major problems. It has a very good receiver and I can not ask
for much more. Most of the small problems was "operator error, not reading
the manual", the biggest problem was learning to use the Ten-Tec memory
system. Now all is great and I can add or remove memories channels with out
losing any of them or adding something I did not want.
I have to add one more thing and Tim this is not from anything you said. I
get tired of reading all the "How poor I am", don't you think most if not
all of use at one time or another was the same way. I spent 21 years in the
Air Force as an NCO, I have three kids that had to have clothes, school
supplies and most very thing else. I planned my retirement, well most of
it, I did not count on being medically retired in 1994 and put on oxygen. I
bought my first new rig in 1997, the Omni VI Plus, but before that I used
anything I could afford. Used Drake B-Line, HW-101's, SB-301/401 Twins,
Kenwood 599D Twins. Now I buy new Ten-Tec Equipment use it till I get tired
of it and sell and buy something new. Yes I will have the new Orion.
