Yes, I've done one of those mods and the results were quite good. Now it takes 
a pretty strong signal to make the AGC pop. I may go back in again in the 
future to see if I can tweek a little more improvement out of the AGC. The mod 
I did was lowering the value of one resistor. It was easy to tack solder 
another resistor piggyback to the original. I may try to play with the 
associated cap as well.

By the way, I do have a very early CII. I have heard mention that the later 
runs had better AGC out of the box, but I have no personal knowledge of that.

There is a simple mod, probably in the archives for the agc that does
wonders for it, I did a couple a dozen years ago, if you will experiment a
little with different caps you can make it just as you like it.
