I suggest connecting a known working low level (mic level) audio source
to either the microphone input or an auxiliary audio input and see
whether you get anything. Use a scope, dmm, vtvm, or vom to measure some
AC test tone input. Don't suspect the radio is bad unless you know for
sure you have given it some audio input.
