Jason,

The 705 and 706 are essentially the same. The 705 has provisions in the
bottom for a 9 volt battery and also a switch to tell the controls on the
mike base if you operate VOX or PTT. The 706 eliminated the battery option
and made the left button the VOX control and the right button the PTT
button. The switch on the underside is not present or needed. With both
mikes, the 9 volts is picked up from the rig. I use my 705 on the Jupiter
and the 706 on the Orion.

73,
John

Subject: [TenTec] 705 and 706 mics

hi,

I was asked the other day what the difference is between a 705 and 706
desk mic and how they fare on the new Jupiters... a local buddy is
interested in a Jupiter but can't find the 705 on TenTec's site - i'm
guessing it's been discontinued and the 706 is the replacement... anyone
care to elaborate?

Thanks and regards,
Jason
