If you have the Windows 98 CD, put it in your CD drive and wait for it to
autorun.

Choose "Install Windows" or whatever it's called.. this will re-install
Windows but retain all of your existing settings / printers / installed
programs etc.

Won't take more than 30 minutes at most, and should fix the problem for you.

Alternatively, do the following after you have made sure that you have the
drivers for your sound card on CD or have downloaded them from Yamaha's web
site:

Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager tab.
Now remove the soundcard from device manager and restart the computer.

New hardware will be detected when the computer starts, press the Cancel
button.

Now insert CD with soundcard drivers or run driver installation packege
downloaded from web site and install them, soundcard will be detected and
all will work.

There are several other ways to solve the problem, the above are the easiest
to explain here.
