That probably only means you've been using a lot of old DOS and WIN 3.1
mentality software or things like HAM programs that grew out of their
DOS versions.

ABsolutely nothing wrong with it if done properly.  DUN has done it
for your modem properties whenever you used dialup, but not for
the modem port address.
