AMEN!

Very well put Doug - from one who knows, been there, done it.
We can have discussions here by those serious operators, pointing out
shortcomings, getting TenTec involved in solving problems and addressing the
shortcomings and making the radio top notch, so even the TT worshipers can
benefit and
contesting community will find the radio that beats foreign competition and
TT flourishes.
...or we can all sing praises that emperor has nice clothes and everything is
fine.

As was seen in the past, TenTec reflector has its own faith defenders doesn't
matter what, which ends up driving away those sincerely interested in
improving things and making TT boxes better. Who wants to argue that computer
generated CW is cheating? Get real!

You wanted to know why contesters in the past did not go crazy about TenTec
radios? It was the homebrewy looks and packaging inside, often flimsy compared
to other makes. Lack of required features for contester, even if some specs or
features were better than other radios. It was/is the overall suitability for
the job. You can preach what you want, but in the end it is what's in it,
what it does, for what money. But just as it is hard for someone to change
religion, it would be hard for some TT worshipers to see anything different.

Here is the rare opportunity for TenTec to listen, do something about the
shortcomings and end up with product that will suit the high end users.
Otherwise
it is going to be a trade off as it was in the past. It might be worthwhile
to listen to those contest nuts, they mostly know what they want and everyone
can benefit.

Hallelujah :-)
