Hi Dan,

It is likely that it will not make a difference, however having the test gear between the transmitter and the impedance matching unit would be my preference. Here's why: When you have your impedance matching device (Antenna Tuner) adjusted properly, the line between the transmitter and the impedance matcher has low SWR and the RF voltage and current maximums are easy to predict. All you need to know is your transmitter maximum power output and Ohm's law. Whatever way those two instruments sample some of the RF on the line, it will work uniformly regardless of the antenna you are feeding. If on the other hand you have the instruments on the antenna side of the impedance mathing device, you could have a very high RF voltage, or a very high current at the instument RF power sampling point. This could possible blow up the front end circuitry in the frequency counter. Monitor scopes sometimes have no active electronics between the RF sample point and the CRT deflection plates, so less chance of smoking anything there. If there are active circuits or small passive parts they could get toasty in some situations. I don't know what kind of scope you have, I only guess that is is a CRT based system and not some newfangled digital abomination.

Friends on the list.
I have my monitor scope and freq. counter hooked up after my Antenna Tuner.
Should they remain like that or should they be placed before the tuner and make the antenna tuner the last thing before the antenna?
Does it make a difference?
Will be very interested in answers and the reasons for them.
