Dick,

First, be sure your speech processor is off.

Listen on your monitored output signal. Hear any hum or scratchiness?
It's possible your soundcard output is distorted or has problems with
RF feedback.

I set my Orion for power = 100 and then adjust AUX input level until
the ALC light just goes out, but the meter indicates near 100. It's
not clear to me how the Orion ALC really works with a psk31 signal, but
this seems to give me about 50 watts average out with 100 watt peaks.
If you reduce the level so that the meter indicates 60-75, that may
even be better. If you use the AUX input, be sure the mic input is
off.

I recommend monitoring with a oscilloscope on the RF output or using
something like the PSKmeter to be sure of making the right signals.
