Hi Bob,

I saw your post as well as the answers suggesting that you should remove
the single button panic 911 programming.  This is well and good except
that you indicated that you hear garbled audio on your phone when you are
transmitting.  I would suggest you cure the cause and not the effect. 
You can probably eliminate the problem by placing a .001 or even .01 mFd
ceramic capacitor capacitor with a greater than 100 volt rating  across
the telephone line at the entry box.  You can also disconnect the RJ-11
plug in the entrance box and install an RF filter in line with it.  You
can get them at Radio Shack or a model made by K-Y Filter Company at a
ham radio distributor.  You can see them online at
www.ky-filters.com/cq.htm.  If you know a telephone repair/installer he
will probably give you one made specifically for the telephone company. 
There is very little difference in them operationally.  They work great! 
Also make sure the telephone entry box is grounded properly.
