I agree Steve.  If the filter were slightly different as to center frequency 
although still 2.4 KHz wide and the BFO was slightly down the slope on the 
lower side then there would be more "low end" to the audio and thus a bit 
warmer sound would be realized.  Of course there would be a bit less high 
end but in the male voice there is little worthwhile energy above 1.kHz 
anyway.
