IMDDR3 at 2 kHz is 99 db versus Orion's ~92 dB at
the same spacing (using the stock 1000 Hz roofing
filter). BDR is not as good with the SDR-1000 about
10 dB worse than Orion at 2 kHz spacings.
I still do not understand why IMD improves
with preamp on, but that's what ARRL measured
for both rigs. Doesn't seem logical to me.
The transceiver is $1375 assembled and
a RX only version is $899. You also need a
M-Audio Delta 44 Soundcard which can be found
for <$100 on a well-known auction site...plus PC
of course!
