I have one, I can test it out for you (D-104, Triton IV-D). Which model
of the D-104 do you have? If it is an "amplifed" (really an impedance matcher)
model, make sure it has a fresh battery and the the gain control is turned
to the middle.

I prefer the 10-DA. a  bullet shaped dynamic mike, optiumized for SSB.
It uses the same stands, etc so I can switch back and forth.

I had a similar problem using a 10-DA on a Drake TR-5. It turned out that
the internal connection on one of the pins to the base was open.
