I agree also.  I find excessive Bass response (well, I call it excessive,
YMMV) is unpleasant to the ear, and it wastes energy in the wrong part of
the spectrum when trying to work DX or a Contest.  I never rag chew on SSB
so that shapes my thinking obviously.
